Survey Suggests Outsourcing Is Common, But Not All Jobs Go Overseas
BOULDER, CO, November 16, 2004 - When Call Center Careers surveyed 1072
call center professionals to determine whether jobs were being outsourced,
32% of respondants revealed that they had recently lost their jobs and their
job had been outsourced overseas. Another 16% indicated their jobs had been
outsourced but the job remained within the USA. About 53% of respondants
indicated that their jobs had not been outsourced.
"Call centers are outsourcing positions to help
save costs and many of those jobs are being filled overseas,
" said Bob Gills, President and CEO of
Call Center Careers.
"However, not all jobs are going overseas, which should be a
comfort to those who are currently looking for work."
"I suspect that as the outbound call center industry continues to grapple
with the do not call list, more and more of these types of jobs will be shipped
overseas, where it is easier to circumvent the law" he said.
